Big Sexy Love by Kirsty Greenwood

Olive Brewster is living a small, safe life. She’s happy enough with her job at the local market, it’s no big deal that doesn’t have boyfriend, she even likes that she still lives in her childhood home. No drama and no fuss means no problems! And that’s just how she likes it.

Except … Olive’s best friend in the world, Birdie, is dying.

Birdie has one final wish. She wants to track down her first love, her epic once in a lifetime love, her “Big Sexy Love”, Chuck. And because she’s stuck in the hospital she needs Olive’s help to do it. But there’s a teeny problem: Chuck is somewhere in New York and Olive has never even left her home town, let alone roamed the crazy streets of Manhattan!

As if the big city isn’t scary enough, Olive has to contend with Seth, a cocky comedy TV writer who thinks she’s a joke; Anders, a bored socialite who’s taken a shine to her; and the fact that no matter how hard she tries to track down Chuck, he does not seem to want to be found.

Can Olive learn to overcome her fears, abandon her old safe routine and fulfil her best friend’s dying wish?  It’s going to take extra bravery, one badass attitude and a whole lot of Big Sexy Love to make it happen …

I have been a fan of Kirsty’s work ever since her debut, Yours Truly and the even more funnier The Vintage Guide to Love and Romance. Now she’s done it all over again with Big Sexy Love. Wow! This story not only explores the wonders of friendship, the gorgeous streets of Manhattan, but it also illustrates the transformation of self-discovery and a very determined young woman named Olive Brewster. While her visit to New York in quest of fulfilling her closest friend’s last wish it is one of the best picks with a perfect mix of comedy, heart-warming romance, a touch of sexual chemistry and friendship.

For me this has been a hilarious, entertaining and heart-touching read that is sure to toss you in a sea of all kinds of emotions. The chemistry of its lovable characters kept me engaged till the last word. It’s not just romcom but also an inspiration for life. Olive is a lovely, loyal, incredibly funny and sharp minded girl who rediscovers herself and transforms into a different person.

This book can potentially hook many kinds of readers especially the ones who love to devour adventures and lots of humor, and so far, from what I have read of this author there’s always bags of it. It was great to see Olive grow and discover her path with an irresistible plot sprinkled with emotion, courage and faith. Other things I would like to mention is the title, love the title, the cover, so bold, colourful and striking (makes for a good thumbnail). This is chick Lit as its best. I’m waiting for the next read. Keep em coming!
